So you spent the last few years getting a degree. All that hard work, all that hard studying, now what? Unless you are going to graduate school, you will probably want to find a job. Finding a job is tough in todays climate, economy is slow and employers are getting picker each year. And, with more and more graduates each year, the job search is getting more and more competitive. But, there is hope, here are some tips to make your job search easier.

1. Your first step should assesing your needs and your skills. Are you good public speaker? Do you like to travel? What industry do you want to work in?

2. Next step is to do research, find out which companies need the skillsets you provide. This can be a little time consuming, but a local newspaper or google is your friend here.

3. Polish up your resume. Resume is the first thing any company sees when you apply for the job. If you make a bad first imperession, good chance you resume will end up right in the garbabe bin. If you are not a good writer, consider hiring some professional to help you, their help can be worth it's price in gold.

4. Take notes of potential "targets", write down contact information, requirements and any other relvant information about the company. You will need that information when contacting the companies and sending out resumes in the next step.

5. Make contact with the company, send out resumes to all the companies you aquired in step 4 with a relevant cover letter. Keep in mind that each company is different, and you will probably need to tweak the cover letter to match each companies requirements.

6. A week or 2 later, call the contact person at the company to follow up on your resume. Often, a small detail like this can mean a difference between getting or losing a job.
